Gillard launches PNG School Based Rugby League Program

Members ofthPNG Kumuls and Vipers Team hadthe opportunity of being part ofthPNG Schools based Rugby League Program, launched by Australia’s Prime Minister Julia Gillard.

The program is part ofthe Australian Government’s Pacific Sport Partnership.

The launch took place atthe University of Papua New Guineawhere school kids embracedthe presence of Australia’s first woman Prime Minister Julia Gillard.

Current members ofthPNG Kumuls train-on squad were present to facilitatethPNG Schools based Rugby League program to more than fifty school children as young as six years.

To help deliverthe core message ofthe program was former New Castle Knights and Beues hard man, Adam MacDougal.

Prime Minister Gillard like many thers sensedthe passion thatthese kids andthe crowd that turned up in numbers have for the sport of rugby league.

The program; however, aims at training school teachers to use sporting experience to inspire inthe classrooms.

ThPNG Schools Rugby League program is an initiative ofthe Australian Sport Commission,thPNG Rugby Football League and Australian Rugby League Commission.
