FIFA U-20 Women’s World Cup Papua New Guinea 2016: Brazil in Quarterfinals

Brazil has secured a quarterfinals berth after they drew 1 all against Sweden. This has left the Swedish team, devastated after the match, packing for home.

Brazil went into the match hoping for a win or a draw while Sweden was begging for a win to proceed to the next stage. The goal difference in group A was what got Brazil through to the next round.

Sweden was more dominant at the start of the match, which saw them scoring first through Stina Blackstenius. Brazil would press on with their attack through mid-fielder Brena and forward Geyse.

Brazil found the equalizer in the 31st minute through mid-fielder, Gabi Nunes. Brazil’s Geyse received a yellow card in the 44th minute after a dull challenge on the Swedish keeper.

In the second half both teams had equal shots on goal, but the score remained the same.

Disappointed Sweden Coach Calle Barrling, says the experience was good for the team even though they did not make it through.

Brazil coach Dorival Bueno says the team is now looking forward to their next match against Japan in the quarterfinals.

The Live Your Goals player-of-the-match Daiane, says it was a team effort that has got them through to the next stage.
