Community mourns death of PNG Volleyball Amoa team coach

By Raphaella Kaore – EM TV Sport, Port Moresby

The death of champion volleyball team VAVA (and PNG Volleyball Amoa team) coach Tom Lui, has come as a shock to not only his family, but his Vabukori community and the Sport fraternity.

Just one month ago he was on his feet and up and about, preparing his beloved VAVA team for the national volleyball championships.

Diagnosed only two months ago with renal problems, Lui  became sick about two weeks ago, and was admitted to the Port Moresby General hospital where he was monitored and undergoing treatment. His condition was stable, until he succumbed to kidney failure last night.

Lui has been the head deacon of the Vabukori church for a very long time, and was very  committed to the community and church activities.

Lui was the current coach of the PNG Volleyball Amoa team that was at the recent lead games in Gold Coast Australia, preparing for the 2015 Pacific Games.

When the EMTV Sport team caught up with late Tommy Lui on the successof the Vava claiming the eleven title in the volleyball national championship in Lae, Lui was impressed by the performance of his players.

President of the the Vava team, Turaho Morea, said he will be sadly missed by the sporting community.
