Classes in Port Moresby Resume

By Meleasie Goviro – EM TV News, Port Moresby

Schools across Port Moresby resumed normal classes following yesterday’s annual bustle of registration activities.

Students are eagerly settling into their daily classroom routines and warming up for the years curricular activities.

EMTV News visited St. Theresa’s Primary School today to see their progress.

2016 classes for the students there, resumed on a high note.

Head Teacher, Christine Tsuga, said student attendance was a huge improvement from previous years with three quarters of the student body present.

Teachers, who had resumed duties on January 25, were enthusiastic about the year ahead; each one taking on different approaches to kicking off classes.

Some took the day to revise and pick up where lessons ended, last year.

Others chose not to waste time, going into full on classroom activities.

Students were equally eager to resume classes and looked forward to upcoming annual school activities both inside and outside of the classroom walls.

On the downside, Mrs. Tsuga was apologetic to students for being unable deliver their basic stationary essentials.

She said with instructions from the higher education to halt the collection of project fees and the late deposit of the second quarter’s Tuition Fee Free Funds it was simply not possible.

For now students resorted to using their own learning resources.

Nevertheless, Tsuga said she remained positive about the academic year for St. Theresa’s Primary as she always has.
