Bulolo Violence: Over 250 Settlers Homeless

Over 250 Settlers are homeless after Watut men torchedtheir homes following a clash atthe Belolo Market in remote Morobe province.

 

The arguments began between Watut men and Bebu settlers over Cigarettes that resulted inthe spearing of two Watut man.

One dlied in Angau yesterday.

 

The Watut than retaliated and torchedtheir homes. Bebu settlers are now camping outsidethe Belolo Police station.

 

District Adminstrator Tae Gwembelek says a confirmed figure has to be given in order for the district administration to helpthem.

 

The Watut community has made it known tothe District Administration thatthey don’t wantthe settlers’ in Belolo.
