The art of weaving bilum that is common in all provinces inthe country will soon reach new heights in terms of commercialization.
This will be made possible through a visit by a team of officers fromtheInternational Trade Centre (IT) based in Geneva.
Minister for Trade Commerce andIndustry, Richard Maru in a meeting withthe IT officers on Monday, highlighted thatthe IT team mission is to consult with stakeholders to transformthe informal bilum business in PNG into a commercialized industry.
Minister Maru’saidthe project will be funded under IT’s three million US dollars Womenin Trade Program to makethe bilum viable inthe world market.
The objective ofthe program is to increasethe economic benefit of women through trade.
