Department of Personnel Management Launches Property Management Database System

The Department of Personnel Management launched its Property Management Database System today.

Secretary for DPM, John Kali, said the introduction of this system is in compliance with the Department’s Corporate Plan.

The new Property Database System contains information about current tenants, and it also makes it easy for the selection committee to view applications for new tenants.

It also includes the number of dependents, year of service and other relevant information.

A part of that plan is to monitor and improve Public Service Institutional Housing and in turn boost public service performance.

Chris Kabauru, Director for the Office of Government and Public Service Housing, said Government has over the years spent billions of Kina on office and housing.

From this, a lot has gone to waste, required maintenance and even become rundown over the past 41 years.

He said today’s event marked a new wave of Public Service reforms where the focus is to bring change to the way Government Institutions manages its Property & Institutional housing portfolio nationwide.
