The East New Britain provincial games kicked off yesterday in Rabaul.
The games brought together athletes from Pomio, Gazelle, Kokopo and Rabaul Districts.
The four districts will be battling to catch the eye of selectors ahead of the PNG Games, which will take place in Kimbe this November.
The defending premiers, Rabaul District, will be defending its title against its other three sister districts to retain the Governor’s Cup.
Pomio District has sent more than 300 athletes for the first time since the games began six years ago.
The finals will be played this weekend with the final list of athletes expected to be announced in the coming weeks.
