A village mover to curb home brewing

A local village have put a stop to home brewing and handed over brew apparatus including a female brewer.

This is an encouraging case of community and police co-operating to contain crime.

And it is betweenthe Gerehu Police inthe Nation’s Capital and Siraka village bordering NCD and Kairuku Hiri.

Sirika village behind Gerehu has struggled to contain Law and Order problems withinthe community. Social behavior has been an issue brought on by increasing alcohol and drug abuse.

Today could bethe start of a cleanup exercise for the community whenthey handed over youths including a young women involved inthe sale and consumption of homebrew.

Gerehu Police station commander Hohover Kora said withthe assistant ofthe community, police are now cracking down on crime.

Siraka village is withinthe boundary ofthe Central Province underthe Kairuku Hiri electorate. Though out of his jurisdiction, Commander Kora said it is important to maintain police presence giventhe isolation ofthe village.

To signifytheir commitmentohome brewing equipment where destroyed.

Siraka villages have pledged to supportthe police to ensure Law and Order prevails.
