Teaching Scholarship PNGSDP Partners with Church

Twenty school leavers fromthe Western Province have been given a second chance to education…..thanks tothPNG Sustainable Development Program.

 

These students’will undergo a two year teacher training atthe Gaulim TeachersCollege under a partnership arrangement between PNGSDP andthe United Church.

Twenty students’ eight females and 12 males left for Rabaul on Tuesday under this program.

PNGSDP provided a funding of K250,000 for these 20 students’in response tothe need for trained teachers to serve atthe United Church Agency schools in Western Province.

The aim ofthe program is to get more teachers into remote parts of Western Province.

These students’have agreed to return totheir home villages and districts afterthe completion oftheir training.

This isthe second batch of students’under such arrangements wherethe church identifies potential candidates for the scholarship provided bPNGSDP.

Gaulim TeachersCollege is run bythe United Church andthe Moderator Rev Bernard Siai toldthe students’to be good citizens ofthe Church.

Astheir commitment tothe program contributions of a minimum of K500 are required fromthe students’per year.
