PNG Cricket team to tour Sri Lanka

CrickePNG has finalizedthe 17-man squad that will be touring Sri Lanka atthe end of this month.

The squad is made up ofthPNG Hebou Barramundi’s who were champions inthe recent T20 Men’sWorld Cup Qualifiers in Auckland.

The squad leaves atthe end of this month for the matches onthe 4th of April.

ThPNG Cricket team will be captained by Chris Amini with wicket keeper Jack Vare.

The idea of havingthPNG team travel to Sri Lanka was fromthe Sri Lankan cricketing great Aravinda de Silva after his visit tothe country last year.

Aravinda’s Cricket Foundation is an academy setup to discover grassroots cricketing talent in Sri Lanka.

The team will havethe opportunity to train at Aravinda’s Cricket Foundation wherethey will have access to first class coaches and facilities.

CrickePNG General Manager, Greg Campbell says this is anther opportunity to get players and coaches exposed to high quality cricket.
