Tkatchenko Settles Concerns on Games Venues

by Dion Kombeng – EM TV Sports, Port Moresby

With 12 days left till the 2015 Pacific Games in Port Moresby, Minister for sports Justin Tkatchenko says all venues will be games-ready, including the Sir Hubert Murray stadium.

In an interview with Road to Port Moresby 2015, the Chief Executive Officer for the Games Organising Committee, Peter Stewart, said that the Sir Hubert Murray stadium in Konedobu will not be games ready, as they had concern regarding the growth of grass for the 2015 Pacific Games.

However sporting Minister, Justin Tkatchenko, at a press conference yesterday, during the venue test at the Taurama Aquatic Centre, when commenting on the status of the Sir Hurbert Murray stadium, said that come July 4th the venue will be games ready.

Now the venues are all 95% ready and are in the final ‘touch up’ stages with the Games to commence next month.

All the venues to be used for the Games will undergo testing until the games begin, to ensure all the facilities will be ready.
