BULOLO SCHOOLS RECEIVE BOOST

Thirty-two primary schools in Bulolo District, Morobe Province, have each received K50,000 this month to support infrastructure development.
Bulolo MP Sam Basil Jr said the funding, provided through the Bulolo District Development Authority (DDA), is strictly allocated for classroom construction as outlined in the district’s five-year development plan.
“The Bulolo DDA has resolved that these funds must be used to build classrooms only,” Mr Basil said. “This demonstrates our district’s commitment to supporting the education sector.”
He confirmed that Timini, Bundun, Patep, and Zepa primary schools in Mumeng LLG have already received their cheques, totalling K200,000 deposited into school accounts. Mr Basil stressed that while staff housing and other amenities remain challenges, the funds must not be diverted from classroom projects.
The MP said he will personally visit schools this week to present cheque butts and ensure the funds are used as intended.
Primary and Early Childhood Education Inspector Jeffrey Job reinforced the directive, stating that the funds are earmarked for constructing two-in-one classrooms. “The cheque butt actually specifies two-in-one classrooms, and schools must follow that,” he said. Schools already building classrooms may use the funds to complete those projects, but priority must remain on new classroom construction.
Bulolo District Education Services Zone One Inspector Wesley Rabis described the funding as timely, noting that many schools are yet to fully integrate elementary schools into primary structures under the 1-6-6 education system.
“With this support, schools can build classrooms to absorb elementary students into the primary system,” Mr Rabis said.
