The Kairuku Member and Minister for Energy, Peter Isoaimo have involved in a traffic collision, at Goldie Junction along the Hiritano Highway in central Province on Monday evening.
It was reported by Police that Isoaimo’s vehicle, a four door open back Landcruiser collided head on with a smaller car driven by a PNGDF soldier who was attempting to avoid a pothole..
Police from Central Province confirmed, the two vehicles involved in the collision have been impounded at the 15-mile police station.
The investigation is currently underway to allow police to find out the cause of the incident.
Provincial Police Commander for Centra Chief Inspector Joseph Salle explained the accident occurred around 8pm on Monday.
Chief Inspector Salle said, Minister Isoaimo was travelling to Port Moresby from his home where he suddenly got into the accident with the PNGDF Soldier.
From initial report obtained, it was alleged that the soldier was trying to avoid a pothole at the junction and drove in wards when minister Isoaimo switch lane causing both vehicles to collide.
PPC Salle stated, the PNGDF Soldier sustained injuries and was taken to the hospital by the St. John Ambulance.
