About Us
Who We Are
EMTV is Papua New Guinea’s premier television station and has served as the nation’s window to the world for over two decades. Owned by Telikom PNG through its subsidiary, Media Niugini Limited, EMTV is recognized as one of the most trusted and respected sources of news and information in the country.
Our History
EMTV began broadcasting in the National Capital District in July 1987. A year later, in April 1988, a transmission centre was launched in Lae, followed shortly by expansion to Mt Hagen, Goroka, Arawa, and Rabaul.
A significant milestone was achieved in June 1989, when EMTV broadcasts became available live in Lae, Mt Hagen, and Goroka.
Today, more than 20 years on, EMTV is received in real time via satellite in 38 centres across Papua New Guinea. Based on the 2000 Census, the EMTV footprint reaches approximately 45% of PNG’s population—around 3.15 million people from a total of 7 million.
