PROVINCIAL EDUCATION SIGNED MOU TO UPSKILL ELEMENTARY TEACHERS

A Memorandum of Understanding was signed by Jiwaka Provincial Education Board, Commonwealth of Learning and Awest Pacific Community Leadership Training Institute to upgrade elementary teaching.
The Early Childhood Education (ECE) MoU is to create avenue and pathway for elementary school teachers to upskill their teaching capabilities and profession through early childhood learning diploma courses.
This will see over 200 Elementary teachers undergo Early Childhood Education through Open Distance and Flexible Learning (ODFL) to align the phasing in of 1-6-6 structure in place of 3-6-4 structure. The overhaul of the policy platform took place in 2023 as per the National Education Plan 2020-2029.
ODFL is sponsored by New Zealand Government’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Trade (MFAT) in the Pacific and the project is managed by the Commonwealth of Learning (COL).
Awest Pacific Community Leadership Training Institute is a private Higher Learning institution established under the Higher Education Act 2014. It is currently operating in Banz with a total number of seven lecturers and staff who will be facilitating the programs.
The ODFL course will be offered both face-to-face and flexible mode Learning.
