While praised by many, Toea Wisil didn’t realise she had talent from the start. It was her family that guided her to pursue it.
She says growing up in the Highlands wasn’t what she saw coming, and once she got her place on the track, it was her ticket to representing Papua New Guinea.
For Toea, it’s her passion and determination that drives her, aiming to beat her competitors anytime there’s an event.
It’s safe to say that Toea is always focused and determined, she aims for what she wants to achieve, and always fights to get ahead, with every motivation she can use.
In late 2015, it became apparent that there was a camaraderie that allowed Toea to become so attached with Tony and Alison Fair-weather, not as her coaches, but as mentors. It was an association that became an instant bond between the trio.
Toea who recently lost her dad and brother, said there has never been any easy passes for her, but it was her personal struggles and determination that kept her focused.
Something that she is always deeply proud of is her culture and tradition.
With nothing to lose but chase, Toea is focuses her achievement on whatever it is that she wants, especially on the track.
Toea was considered the second fastest in her hit yesterday, with semi-finals to be played in the morning and finals in the afternoon. The competition will be live on channel 7 tomorrow at 11:30am Australian Eastern.
