Team USA is now one step away from the quarter final rounds and the pressure is building.
Their 3 – 1 win against New Zealand last evening, has made that possible.
USA Coach, Michelle French was a Coach last night when her team, held their end of the bargain and collected 3 goals to New Zealand’s 1 last evening.
USA Supporters rose to their feet in the second minute of the match when Ashley Sanchez scored the match opening goal.
And then five minutes later, another goal came from Mallory Pugh.
New Zealand, fairly shaken by USA in just under ten minutes, then responded with goal attempts that went unsupported with every Paige Satchel attempt into the USA’s attacking third.
The second half saw a turnaround from New Zealand, where Tayla Christensen was introduced in the 70th minute.
She fed Isabella Coombes enough support with moments later Coombes scored.
New Captain Meihayla Moore pulled on an impressive defence in the dying minutes but USA managed to score the third goal to claim the match.
Meanwhile, a disappointed New Zealand Coach Leon Birnie, admitted, USA is a good team, and there were instances NZ could have played better but failed to do so.
The team now plans to regroup before going into their match against France.
