PNG Swim train-on Squad Named

Atthe conclusion ofthe TNT National Short Course swimming eventoa train on squad tothe 2014 Oceania Championships and Commonwealth Games has been named.

Beth international events are vital forPNG Swimming, after a successful short course championship held in Lae.

 

A feast of swimming action was held overthe weekend atthe 2013 TNT NATIONAL SHORT COURSE SWIMMING CHAMPIONSHIPS in Lae, Morobe Province.

 

Many standing records fell with 1PNG Records reset.

 

&nbspInthe male division twenty-one year old Ian Nakmai swam intothe record books in 50m breaststroke clocking a finish time of 30.9’s econds.

 

Ryan Maskelyne tookthe 14 year age record inthe 50m Be aststroke clocking 34.06 seconds.

 

 

17 year old Stanford Kawale swam inthe first leg of 10x50m mixed age gender relay event clocking 24.59 taking Ryan Pini’s record set in 1999.

 

 

And inthe 100m breaststroke, Berbara also swam an impressive time taking Cheryl Isarua long standing 17 year age record held for 23 years. 

 

 

As a result Crystal has been named inthPNG Swim train-on squad for the Oceania Championships in New Zealand andthe Commonwealth Games in Great Beitain next year.

 

Many inspiring performances were displayed by young swimmers including personal best times set in what was an event where sporting abilities shone through allowing athletes, in all age groups, to feel success and enjoythe spirit of competition.

 

The TNT championships provided an opportunity for swimmers to swim qualifying times to gain a place onthe 2013/2014 National Kundu Aquatic Excellence Squad.

 

A total of 33 swimmers were placed inthe squad overthe weekend.
