PORT MORESBY, July 8, 2015

Netball fans are expecting chaos on the PNG Power Dome courts as the region’s best teams take on the PNG Pepes next week.

Team captain Winnie MaVa’a (PNG) told the Games News Service she had high expectations of the girls but was mindful of the quality of their opponents.

“We are hoping for the best. We’ve been preparing well as a team for a couple of months now”, she said.

“We’ve got the normal three tough teams to look out for: Samoa, Cook Islands and Fiji. We are pooled with Samoa and our aim is to beat them so we are No.1 and play No.2 in the next pool.”

The PNG team is made up of a mix of players from across the country.

“It’s not just Moresby girls, not just central girls but you’ve got Momase, East New Britain and New Ireland. I think we’ve got a good mix in the team. We are ready to take anyone”, MaVa’a said.

The Port Moresby 2015 Pacific Games netball competition starts on Monday July 13.
