The third PNG Women’s Forum came to an end yesterday, after three days full of panel discussions and mentorship.
The forum covered topics on leadership, gender-based and sorcery related violence, and entrepreneurship.
Share the message was the final word from US Ambassador to PNG, Catherine Ebert-Gray, to the women, men and students who attended the forum.
She said that it was now up to them to take the message to their communities and provide awareness on issues they have heard at the forum.
Director of the PNG Tribal Foundation, Michelle Hau’ofa, said that it took two forums to make this one a success and she was overwhelmed with the interaction and discussion that took place this year.
Anna Solomon, Secretary for Religion, Youth and Community Development said that she was inspired hearing the work that many of the women do without the help of the government. She encouraged them to continue their good work.
For those who attended, they pledged that they would return back to their communities and make a difference. Students asked for materials to be provided to allow them to carry out awareness on their semester breaks.
Winnie William, the nominee for the Women of Courage Award left them with a proverb from Mother Mary to encourage them to continue their good will.
