A two-day mass motorcade exercise will be coordinated by the Joint Security Task Force and the APEC Coordinating Authority in Port Moresby this Sunday and another next Wednesday.
Both drills will be run from the Hilton Hotel in Hohola, to the APEC Haus along Ela Beach.
The exercise will also cover the International Convention Centre and Jackson’s International Airport.
The mass motorcade exercise or dress rehearsal will be conducted around Hilton Hotel and the APEC Haus, and will see 22 motorcades and 200 vehicles involved.
This exercise will incorporate staff and vehicles from the APEC Coordination Authority, Royal Papua New Guinea Constabulary, and emergency services.
It is considered important because it will allow the JSTF and ACA to identify gaps, so final preparations can be done to successfully execute the movement of world leaders during the APEC Leader’s Summit.
About five thousand security personnel will be engaged in what is considered the biggest security operation in the history of PNG.
The general public is advised that during this 2 days practice, cooperation and patience is required, and they should not disrupt the motorcades drill.
