Search for Missing Fisherman Continues

By Mickey Kavera – EM TV, Port Moresby

A 28-year-old father of three from Motu Koita Village in Pari is still missing out at sea.

Peter Amos is the son of Reverend Wilson Amos. He has been missing since Wednesday last week.

The fisherman was returning from a fishing trip with three other fishermen when they encountered bad weather.

The family, Pari Village community and government agencies, along with the National Maritime Safety Authority and police have all joined in the search and rescue operation. However, the search has failed to uncover any traces of evidence belonging to the fisherman so far.

Reverend Wilson remains hopeful that his son is alive somewhere on an island. Although funding has hampered their efforts, the family says they will use all available resources to ensure the return of their beloved son.

With prevailing extreme weather predicated in the coming days, fishermen are being urged to take extra precautions when going out to sea.
