Dr Schram arrived in Port Moresby on Saturday morning on a Cairns flight but was stopped by immigration officials at Jackson’s international airport.
The reasons for the deportation this time are not clear. Interim Chancellor, Sir Nagora Began, was atthe airport to negotiate for Dr Schram’s release but was reportedly told by immigration officials that Dr. Schram would not be allowed back intothe country.
UNITECH’s SRC presidentoLivingstone Hosea, expressed frustration overthe incident. He said immigration officials have hijacked a process.
UNITECH staff and Student representatives had travelled to Port Moresby on Friday to negotiate for Dr Schram’s return.
Late Friday, Dr Schram was given permission to return only to have that permission withdrawn upon arrival.
