Pacific in Union program has attracted quite number of school girls showing interest in playing Rugby Union.
Girls aged between 13 and 19 displayed classy footy action in a grueling, but fun-filled match inthe NCD Schools Rugby Union competition.
It was a gruelling but exciting on-field performance fromthe girls. It truly embracedthe concept of pushingthe code forward withthe involvement of women.
The U13 girls were out in force at Port MoresbyInternational School yesterday. Port Moresby Grammar in blue took on Beroko Primary School. Grammar put up a fiery battle; however, Beroko bounced back asthe match went down tothe wire.
This is part of Rugby Union’s development concept coordinated bythe PacificIn Union program in partnership withPNGFRU and schools.
Currently five schools in NCD are taking part inthe competition including POMIS, POM Grammar, Koroboro, Beroko Primary and St JosephInternational in Under 19, 17 and 13 girls divisions, while boys played in Under 17, 15 and 13 divisions.
ther parts ofthe country will roll outthe same program such asthe Autonomous Region of Bougainville who recently received backing fromthe Sport ministry and Lae through its Scrum program.
