Transparency International on Foreign Gov’t

Anti -corruption organisation, Transparency International PNG has expressed shock at the recent reports by the Task Force Sweep Team Chairman, Sam Koim exposing the money laundering in Australia by PNG politicians.

Chairman of TIPNG, Lawrence Stephens said it is common knowledge that many Papua New Guinean officials have acquired property and bank accounts in Australia well beyond their official earning capacity.

TIPNG says it has been calling on its neighbours to help uncover suspicious investments, particularly in real estate, but they have not been too helpful.

He said foreign governments should not see these issues as internal matters but step into help the people of PNG recover and repatriate the stolen assets.
