An increase with new enrolments, during the electoral roll update in the Popondetta Urban Local Level Government, is likely to see more eligible voters of the 2017 National Elections.
EMTV News caught up with the Ward 3 team who were updating the electoral roll in Popondetta.
According to Electoral Agent, Trophimus Vaso, since the electoral roll update began on Tuesday, there was an increase with new enrolments.
“For new enrolments alone, we had an increase especially those of 18 years of age and above,” he said
The electoral roll maintenance was also conducted for the deceased and other additional information that is required before next year’s national election.
The electoral officials called on the people to get enrolled so that they can exercise their democratic rights.
“They should come forward and get enrolled, to prepare for the 2017 National General Elections,” Vaso said.
The electoral roll update that began on Tuesday November 8, was completed on Saturday November 13.
