In Netball, the PNG U21 team defeated Singapore with a score line of 47 – 46 at the Rita Flynn Indoor courts this afternoon.
It was the curtain raiser for the Central Senior Tournament finals. .
With the likes of Jepheth Tulapia and Boio Peter in the PNG side, it was a tough game for the Singapore team.
The first quarter started off with PNG playing some of its spectacular skills on court.
PNG mounted pressure on Singapore in the first minute, when they consecutively scored three times.
With the likes of PNG Goal attacker, Boio Peter and Jepheth Tulapia, the scoreline was 0 – 9 in favour of PNG by the ninth minute.
Singapore refused to be defeated easily as they came back stronger and the score line was ironed out 9 whole by the 10th minute.
By the end of the first quarter, the score line was 10 – 11 in favour of PNG.
Despite losing Jepheth Tulapia in the final quarter to a minor injury, the PNG girls brought the game home with 47 – 46 win.
They will play game 2 of the friendlies tomorrow at 4 pm.
