Late Payments of TFF Funds Causes Unecessary Disturbance

Lae’s Bugandi Secondary School Principal, Toni Gau, says the late payment of the Tuition Fee Free funds to schools is causing unnecessary disturbances in schools.

Gau made these comments after the school sent the students home on Monday as water supply in the school was disconnected by WaterPNG due to the school’s outstanding bill of K50,000.

WaterPNG disconnected the water during the holidays and the school had no funds left to pay the outstanding bills.

They owe K50,000 to WaterPNG.

Bugandi Secondary has received its K200,000 TFF funds late Monday afternoon and has settled the bills since then.

Meanwhile, Morobe Provincial Program Education Advisor, Kieth Jiram, says it is a big challenge for schools to operate without the funds being paid on time.
