Staff oPNG Ports Corporation has been challenged to achievethe Corporation’s plans by communicating better with each ther and work in multidisciplinary teams.
CEO Stanley Alphonse announcedthe corporation’s objectives going forward withthe guidance of a 3 year rolling departmental business plan process set bythe 20 years organizational strategic plan.
ThPNG Ports staff was told of changes inthe company. They were told of new staff-work andthe cultural and behavioral changes that must be adopted to facethe challenges and opportunities ofthe future.
Mr. Alphonse remindedthem that last yearPNG Ports had developed and adopted a 20 year Strategic Plan.
He toldthem thattheir objective was to transformthe company into a dynamic one, which operates on profitable and commercial basis while also servingthe needs ofthe people oPNG.
PNG is now operating in an open market environmentowith several competitors for ports; because of this, each staff was encouraged to embracethe changes in attitudes and approach to work that was needed to makPNG Ports successful.
Mr. Alphonse added that roles and responsibilities would be reviewed and new procedures and policies would be set up to ensure a modern and efficient corporation.
He saidthere will bethe introduction management principles and concepts that will underliethe revised organizational structure.
Some roles will have dual responsibilities and dual reporting andthere will also be dotted line and direct line responsibilities.
