PM :Called to investigate sale of NHC property

An urgent National Court Order has given temporary relief to tenants of National Housing Corporation Waigani Hostel from being evicted.

The Housing Corporation attempted to evictthe tenants on Thursday last week, but was not successful.

The tenants are now calling onthe Prime Minister to order an investigation intothe sale ofthe property claiming gross corruption inthe Housing Corporation.

And, yesterday’s planned eviction by NHC did not eventuate. An attempt last week led to heated exchanges and several people injured.

Benners and placards were put up yesterday callingthe Prime Minister to order an immediate investigation intothe sale ofthe Waigani Hostel.

The tenants got a National Court Order yesterday to preventthe eviction.

Rex Welin isthe lead plaintiff who has been battlingthe eviction matter for four years with NHC.

They say a National court Order is in place andthe date for trial is onthe 1st of March; however, NHC has ignored this fact.

The Housing Ministersaid whther legal or illegal all tenants must be removerd fromthe property.

There is a National Court Order in place which allows for the tenants in Waigani to occupy whenthe NHC issued an eviction notice in 2010.
