The Government has revokedthPNG passport of controversialIndonesian Fugitive Djoko Tjandra.
Foreign Affairs and Immigration Minister, Rimbink Pato confirmedthe action yesterday adding Tjandra obtainedthe passport under suspicious circumstances.
It’s been close to three years since Fugitve Djoko Tjandra left Jakata for Port Moresby.
Wanted, for misusing BankIndonesia liquidity support funds inthe bank Beli case.
He’s been travelling freely using a Papua New Guineapassport underthe name Joe Chan.
The Minister for Foreign affairs and immigration has also confirmedthe revoking Tjandra’s passport.
He says underthe 1986 actthere is provision to revoke if grounds for cancellation do exist.
The department of Justice and Attorney confirmed being issued a directive bytheIndonesian Government to extraditethe fugitive. The undertaking was made last year in October during a joint meeting withIndonesian anPNG officials.
An investigation onthe issuance ofthe passport is still being investigated bythe department of Justice and attorney.
