Member for Kandep, and Treasury Minister Don Polye, was awardedthe most distinguished Order of Saint Michael and Saint George today atthe Government House.
Governor General, Sir Michael Ogio, awarded Mr. Polye on behalf ofthe Queen, withthe insignia of a companion ofthe Order CMG.
Those present to withnessthe awarding ofthe prestigious Order of Saint Michael and Saint George were Vice Minister for Treasury and Member for Sohe, Delilah Gore, Lady Esmie and representatives ofthe Kandep district administration.
Mr. Polye was recently appointed chairman oftheInternational Monetary Fund.
He is alsothe leader ofthe Triumph Heritage Party;the party that is occupyingthe Deputy Prime Minister’s portfolio.
Mr. Polye passedthe portfolio to his deputy party leader, Leo Dion, when government was formed; his reason was that it would not be fair ifthe two highest portfolios had been taken up by two people fromthe same region.
When talking to media, he said he will continuethe work he has begun.
He expressed gratitude for the recognition and said it was a double blessing for him.
Mr. Polye was also involved in establishing various national institutions such asthe national maritime authority,the national roads authority, just to name a few.
He is adamant 2014 will be a prosperous year for the country and urged all in authority to make it work for the benefit of all.
