Nipa Kutubu Completes a Successful Service Delivery Year

By Mickey Kavera – EM TV, Port Moresby

The Nipa Kutubu district in the Southern Highlands has completed a successful service delivery year, and looks forward to more development in the New Year, local Member of Parliament Jeffery Komal says.

Mr Komal, who spent the Christmas and New Year period with his people in Kutubu and Nipa, said the 2014 fiscal year was a successful year for service delivery in his electorate.

Komal said going to Kutubu to be with the people during the festive season was special, as he used the time to end the year by delivering several projects covering all the government’s development pillars of health, education, infrastructure, law and order and small to medium enterprises (SMEs).

He said whether it was a holiday or not, the government wants to be with the people and that is why he was in Kutubu during the festive season to deliver services.

Mr Komal delivered a new highway and 19 police vehicles to the police in Kutubu to address law and order in the area. He urged members of the police force to use the vehicle for its intended purpose.

Former deputy provincial administrator and community leader Dabura Kamuna thanked Mr Komal on behalf of the people for assisting them with a new vehicle. He also urged the members of the police to use the vehicle wisely and patrol the communities.

Female leader Ann Aisiki also thanked Mr Komal for the vehicle as it would address law and order and protect the welfare of the women in and around the district.

Mr Komal also presented K20,000 to the Kutubu Women’s Association to assist them with their SME activities.

He then travelled to Barutake outside Pimaga station and delivered K100,000 for the payment of a road project he delivered earlier this year.

After being with the people of Barutake, Mr Komal travelled to Mubi Village where he was welcomed by hundreds of people, including traditional dancers. He then committed K100,000 to assist Mubi Primary School with its infrastructure and another K100,000 to the Mubi health centre.

He said he successfully ended the year in a special way with service delivery covering all five development pillars of the government, with presentation of a police vehicle to cover the law and order sector, K100,000 to the people of Barutauke to cover infrastructure, K100,000 each for the health and education sector and another K20,000 to support SMEs for Women’s activities in the Kutubu area.

He said over the past two and a half years, he has successfully delivered services covering all the sectors as per the budget and that he was proud to announce that achievement.

He said under his leadership, he has equally delivered services to all the five local level governments in the area despite political differences and disturbances.

Mr Komal said he would continue to fund projects covering the five LLGs in the New Year as he wants to make Nipa Kutubu one of the role model districts in the country.
