A resource centre in Lae, Morobe, Papua New Guinea, has been established and is ready to use for human development, upskilling and training purposes.
The resource centre will be operating in the Ahi Local Level Government area to empower the Ahi people.
Member for Lae, Loujaya Kouza, and Morobe Governor, Kelly Naru, officially opened the building.
This new resource centre will accommodate financial and literacy training, upskilling of human resource and assist in human development.
The centre was an initiative by the youth and women from Butibum village of Ahi LLG, with support from the Lae District Office.
The building will help cater to the needs of women and youth in small and medium enterprises, or SME.
Social disturbances by youth in the area have always been a concern..
With this centre, Butibum Community Enterprise Group will have the opportunity to engage in training for financial empowerment.
The Lae MP, Loujaya Kouza, who was also present during the opening ceremony, will work closely with areas in Lae District, especially organisations engaged in SMEs.
