A fiesta of Basketball action atthe Hohola Basketball Courts was withnessed on Sunday (yesterday) asthe National South’s Basketball challenge reached its playoffs.
Up to 17 teams representing various parts ofthe resource rich Southern Highlands Province playedtheir hearts out to book a grand final spot.
The National South’s Basketball Championships began last Friday with an interesting mix of teams fromthe Highlands, all vying for the 2013 title.
A team from Sogeri was fairly represented atthe champs, Welgris withtheir coach from Hagen, andthPNG IPA Sponsored Reunion South’s basketball team, all in high spirits.
Usano from Kutubu boasted a number of national representatives, while Pesaps from Mendi were a class oftheir own.
Pesaps ranthe ball with much enthusiasm and scored wherethey could. A number of defensive fouls gave more opportunities to Pesaps to score.
Usano onthe ther end didn’trsquo;t convert much oftheir shots into points. Missed baskets and rebounds saw Pesaps capitalize onthe women in red.
Meanwhile, inthe Men’s division, UPNG South’s team made surethey representedtheir side ofthe Southern Highlands well.

The support of this revived concept has been overwhelming with Patron Pastor Isaac Joseph on hand to withness allthe action.
Southern Highlanders flockedthe Hohola Basketball courts, while many basketball enthusiast made it a point to watch for themselvesthe vast talent in basketball displayed.
