The opening goal ofthe 2013 Digicel National Netball Championships was scored on Monday atthe Rita Flynn Netball Courts in front of all participating provinces.
The weeklong championship has drawn teams from Lae, Wewak, Alotau, Tabubil and Kerema.
All 16 confirmed centers were present on Monday to be part ofthe official opening ofthe 2013 National Netball Championships; one that was not be missed even bythe respective Members of Parliament.
Sport Minister, Justin Tkatchenko, NCD Governor Powes Parkop, and Health Minister Michael Malabag – a keen supporter of netball in his electorate, was all present atthe opening ceremony to shootthe first goal ofthe championships.
Following an exciting opening ceremony,the junior’s championships got offthe ground with eager and enthusiastic under 13s, 15s, 17s and 21s.
The juniors’ championship is coinciding withthe two weeks of school holidays and will run throughoutthe week.
This year’s championships is being hosted by Motu Koita West Netball Association, and played atthe Rita Flynn netball Courts.
