Morobe Governor, Kelly Naru, has condemned the rape and murder of a woman in a village outside of Lae City.
Naru said the culprit must face the full force of the law.
“Police have to find the culprits.”
Yesterday, Community Leaders confirmed that the mother of four was raped and murdered.
She was missing for four days before her partially decomposed body was found a day ago.
The Provincial government will fund police logistics and weapons to make sure this doesn’t happen to more people.
“We will do our best within our limited resource and capacity,” said Governor Naru.
Manpower and logistics continue to hinder Police work.
Funding coming into the province has decreased significantly this year.
Last year, the funding going toward policing was K1 million. This year it has decreased to K800,000.
This has been due to funding cuts from the National Government.
Yesterday, Community Leaders at Nabak were working to diffuse tension after the body was found in an abandoned well near the village.
Governor Naru said he is confident that Lae Police will apprehend the suspect who is still on the run.
