Enga To Have Hydro Power Station Soon.

The people of Enga province will soon have a Hydro power station that will supply the province and parts of the Highlands region with electricity.

Governor for Enga province, Peter Ipatas today received the final and completed design of the Wabag Hydro Project from Chinese construction company, Guangdong Foreign Construction Vice General Manager, William Zhao.

 

The Enga provincial Government today received the completed design of the project which will costs around K93 million.

 

Vice General Manager of the Construction Company, William Zhao, said all feasible studies, geo tech and surveying were completed last year, and work will start as soon as funds are allocated for the project.

 

The hydro station upon its completion will provide 7.5 mega watts of electricity to help the province, and also supply enough electricity to other parts of the region.

Governor Ipatas said the project will have a big and positive impact on the province, and says it is an economically wise project.

 

He also added that the provincial government will also include the resource owners, and make them shareholders in the project.

 

Governor Ipatas thanked the construction company for conducting the free feasibility studies and surveying of the project, and added that if all goes well for the project, work will start next year. The project itself will take 3 and a half years to complete.
