Motion To Place 400 Year Bible In Parliament

by Stanley Ove Jr – EM TV News, Port Moresby

Southern Highlands Governor, William Powi, will move a motion in the next Parliament sitting to place the 400 year old King James Version of the Bible in the chamber of Parliament.

Governor Powi said since Parliament Speaker, Theo Zurenuoc, has taken the task of modernising the Parliament and in recognising PNG as a Christian Country, this motion must be floored in Parliament for debate.

This intention was announced last Friday during the visit of the Bible in Southern Highlands Province.

Governor Powi described the arrival of the Bible in Mendi as an honor for the people of Southern Highlands.

Powi challenged his people to embrace changes taking place in the Province and maintain their Christian faith and practices. Something Powi believes can help change and develop Southern Highlands Province.

Governor Powi said the move to have the bible placed in Parliament must be debated in the next sitting, and he is confident most members of Parliament would agree while some may go against it.
