MASS BURIAL

The Port Moresby General Hospital executed a mass burial for 127 unclaimed bodies for last year at 9 mile cemetery in Port Moresby.

Out of the 127 bodies buried today, 48 are adults, 48 are body parts and 31 are infants.

The Port Moresby General Hospital Mortuary has 295 unclaimed bodies since last year.

The Mortuary cannot take on the load of growing population as the daily death toll rise and fill up the mortuary space because relatives of the bodies are not picking up their love once in a timely manner.

The mass burial exercise was prompted by a video that was shared and viewed widely on social media on the state of the mortuary and the bodies left outside the layout were rot.

According to the Morgue attendant Davis Angus, the unclaimed bodies buried are from March to July 31st last year.
