Michael Marum has been confirmed as the PNG LNG Kumuls Coach to guide the team to next year’s World Cup.
He was only appointed to coach the Kumuls during the Pacific Test, while PNGRFL searched for another coach for the 2017 World Cup.
But after successfully leading the Kumuls to victory against the Fiji Batis, he was given the role as coach.
Marum was selected after the chairman of the PNG Rugby Football League and board held a meeting last week to confirm his role as coach.
His appointment as Kumuls coach will run until 31st October, 2018.
He said he is happy and privileged to be given this opportunity.
With three games to be played in the country, this will be a big challenge for the Kumuls.
Marum will be looking at players with form and fitness, monitoring players in the NRL, NSW and QLD cup and also the England Super League.
They plan to start preparing early for the World Cup.
They will hold a High performance camp at the end of the year for players to get to know each other.
Marum said coaching the Kumuls is a big task, and his aim, with the Kumuls, is to make the country proud.
