Madang has welcomed City Mission to that corner ofthe country to assist disadvantaged youths.
The Madang Resort Hotel, underthe lLeadersip of Managing Director Sir Peter Berter, has begun raising funds for the planned Madang based City Mission.
The Hotel recently hostedthe Kalibobo Daywhile promotingthe initiative which will be established in 2014.
More than four thousand residents attendedthe event and took part in activities which included sightseeing, kayaking, harbour cruises, diving classesndthe business trade fair. Traditional singsing groups and local artists also drew a large crowd.
Also present was East Sepik Governor, Grand Chief, Michael Somare, a strong supporter ofthe initiative. He pledged K10, 000 towardsthe cause while Madang Governor, Jim Kas, pleadged K50, 000.
Mr Kas assuredthethe gthering thatthe Provincial government will assist in securing a peice of land for this projectobudgeted at K100, 000.
City Mission is a church based organization aimed at assist disadvantaged youths in society by teachingthem basic trades and a life away from crime.
