LNG Landowners Return Home

Landowners in the multi-million LNG project are returning to their communities after attempts of calling on the National Government to honor project commitments.

The landowners submitted a petition last week to Prime Minister Peter O’Neill, relevant Government ministers and Hela political leaders.

They call on the government to address them at their own communities in the coming weeks.

The landowners gathered for the last time to announce their return to respective project sites and await Government’s decision.

PDL 1, 7, 8, 9 including pipeline representatives said the government has received the petition and must seriously take action.

The landowners say they are not fighting for cash handouts but material development in all affected project communities.

They say, the project will not only benefit immediate communities along the LNG Project, but Hela Province, its neighbors and PNG as a whole.

First gas production is expected to be piped out of PNG shores mid-2014.
