Gary Juffa has applauded the government and said this was something that is long overdue for West Papuan Refugees.
This comes after a public outcry on the asylum agreement with Australia.
Some West Papuans who sought refugees before independence can now be able to receive citizenship.
Juffa says that this was something personal to him because of the fact that his great grandfather helped bring in the first 200 west Papuan refugees across by Boat in 1969.
He also said that, the fact that the media in Papua New Guinea is not reporting on the deaths and the horrific crimes that are occurring in west Papua is unbelievable since other media around the world report on the issue.
West Papua came under the control of Indonesia after the united nation gave temporary authority on the 1st of May 1963. Since then the people have been fighting for independence. Their fight has caused the deaths of millions at the hands of the Indonesia.
