Intoxicated Passengers Will Not Be Tolerated

By Fabian Hakalits – EM TV News, Port Moresby

As the festive season approaches, the travelling public has been warned to take heed of airline policies on alcohol consumption.

PNG Air’s Wewak Port is strongly implementing this policy and under the leadership of Port Manager, Mark Karulaka, the airline will not hesitate to offload any passenger who breaches this policy.

Last Saturday, EMTV News saw an intoxicated passenger who was denied boarding.

“Christmas is a peak period and the traveling public are reminded of the zero alcohol tolerance policy,” Karulaka said.

“I am warning all passengers, the airline will not tolerate any intoxicated passengers.

“It’s not only PNG Air, but every airline that operates in PNG and in the world,” Karulaka added.

Safety is paramount and as part of operational requirements, just like any airline, this existing policy applies.

“This is safety for the other fellow passengers, aircraft and also for the intoxicated passengers themselves,” he said.

Karulaka called on the traveling public, to be alcohol free and make this festive season, a joyful celebration with their loved ones.
