A grant of free 2016 school fees, worth K200,000, was awarded by the International Training Institute to Grade 10 and 12 school leavers across the country.
The scholarship is intended for school leavers who may have missed out in the selections, to continue their education.
This is part of various community services obligations ITI has been doing this since 2009.
“Giving scholarships is our way of fulfilling social obligations to help the community and the country as well.”
A total of 60 students from 50 National and Secondary Schools across the country were proud recipients of the K200,000 worth of scholarships.
ITI recognised students who performed well, but couldn’t continue due to financial constraints and the limited number of spaces in national tertiary institutions.
Parents of a recipient, Reverend Ovia Gamu, and his wife were there personally to show their appreciation.
Among the students, Tony Alu was one of the fortunate recipients of ITI’s scholarship grants.
“I was not accepted into any university but ITI has given me a second chance to fulfill my dreams,” says Tony.
Meanwhile, recipients now enrolled at the ITI Institution are undertaking a 17 weeks Certificate course in either Accounting, Computing, Business, Sales and Human Resource Management.
ITI plans to increase its scholarship grant to K250,000, and expand into other provinces starting with the Western Province.
