All 19’s taff working inthe Governor’s office, starting fromthe Chief of Staff tothe Cleaner, have been sacked by Governor Naru.
He saysthe directive comes after reports of misconduct and bribery allegations from contractors to failure of completing tasks.
Governor Naru says he had given many warnings andthe last straw came after angry citizens, frustrated over government grants stormedthe Tutumang last month.
“It goes without saying, you can see atthe back of me, damage of Government offices wherethe windows are smashed andthe walls are smashed in. “
He saidthe incident brought disgrace to an office that should havethe capacity to servethe people of Morobe inthe right manner. The Morobe Provincial Government Office will now be functioning on a skeleton staff of consultants and contracted workers.
New directions have been given to hire new people.
“All positions inthe Governor’s office will be advertised withinthe next week or so. And I will call on all professionally competent and qualiflied Papua New Guineas to apply to my office to work with me”, Governor Naru said.
Vacant positions will be properly advertised. The Governor saysthe office will try to getthe right people for the jobs.
