Government and NGO combine to address REDD

The Office of Climate Changeamp; Development has forged ties with a Non-Government Organisation to collaborate on Environmental issues.

The NGO known as Forest Management & Product Certification Service Limited or FORCERT is pleased thatthe Office of Climate Changeas recognised its trial work on Payment for Environmental Services.

The team-up is a step forward that will see several of FORCERT’s initiatives implemented.

The MoU that was signed this month between FORSERT and Office of Climate Changeamp; Development will ensure that both cooperate on issues related tothe Payment for Environmental Services System forPNG

The collaboration will particularly seethe government and NGO addressthe Reduced Emissions from Deforestation and forest Degradation, commonly known as REDD.

The partnership will also use and promotethe national-level Payment for Environmental Services System trial work for legislation and international REDD negotiations.

FORSERT is keen to seethe consultation process through to contribute towardthe finalized Climate Changeolicy.
