ThPNG Hebou Barramundi’s head intotheir final week of preparation before heading to Auckland, New Zealand for the ICC East-Asia PacificWorld T20 Qualifiers.
As strong favorit’s after successfully qualifying on home soil back in 2011PNG Barramundis are confident to retainthe Crown.
This year’s tournament will be different withthe addition of three more teams tothe East Asia Pacific qualifying stage.
Currently ranked 18th inthe world in T20’s and 1st inthe East-Asia Pacific region, Barramundis will be competing against Vanuatu, Fiji, Samoa, Japan, Cook Islands &Indonesia.
The teams to look out for are Fiji and Samoa including Vanuatu who was runner up back in 2011.
Man in charge of Hebou Barramundi’s Chris Amini saidthere’ll be no easy games in Auckland;they have to playtheir best.
He saidthey have been playing good quality T20 cricket so regardless ofthe quality ofthe opposition, it’s only a matter of sticking tothe game plan.
The boys have worked hard overthe last 6 to 8 months and are confident to retainthe EAP crown
They leave next Friday for Auckland wherethey will undergo light training beforetheir campaign kicks off on Sundaythe 3rd of February.
The winner from this tournament will progress tothe next stage to be held in Dubai later this year.
